Star Wars: The Old Republic

Last year E3 was abuzz over the exciting CGI trailer for the upcoming Bioware MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Named ‘Deceived’ it was a stunning trailer that showed the Empire marching onto the Jedi Temple in Coruscant.  We got to see the bounty hunters and the Sith warrior battle with an platoon of Jedi that came to an end with a impressive force fuelled duel between a Jedi and Sith, the Jedi suffering a devastating loss.

This year, at the 2010 E3, Bioware returns with another CGI cinematic trailer named ‘Hope’.  This time the battle takes place on an occupied Alderaan, 3650 years before its destruction, as Republic soldier, whose uniforms look very similar to that of the Clone and Stormtroopers, as they ambush a Sith patrol.  They suffer great losses until the introduction of a female jedi [who by the look of the runes on her lightsaber seems to be from Dathomiri] who get revenge for the attack on the Temple last year.

Between the two trailers, and the dozen of game footage video that have been released, I am very excited for this game and wonder if this will be the inevitable WOW killer.
