42 Screens: X-Men First Class

After three successful X-Men films a wolverine spin-off (a second on the way) the movie verse of the X-Men is going strong.

Set to be released on June 3 2011 the next film, X-Men: First Class, is a prequel to the series that shows us the X-men we all know and love in 1960.  With John F. Kennedy as president of the United States X-Men: First Class parallels the history of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X. The villains of the film will be the Hellfire Club.

A released statement stated the following on the upcoming movie.

“Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Before they were archenemies, they were closest of friends, working together, with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known. In the process, a rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.” – The Film Stage

The first stills have been released with Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, James McAvoy as Xavier, Rose Byrne as Moira McTaggart and January Jones as Emma Frost.
