42 Screens: Torchwood Update 3

The little show called Torchwood has vanished, temporarily, from people’s minds these days.  It’s not it’s fault, but with fall TV on the horizon, a new season of Sarah Jane Adventure beginning, and a Doctor Who Christmas special on the horizon, we have allot more immediate things to look forward to -but Torchwood is not to be forgotten.

In an interview on Doctor Who Magazine (DWM) Torchwood has come back with a new logo, updates on characters, and even a new character to look forward to.

Returning Characters

  • Captain Jack Harkness – John Barrowman

Little is known how Captain Jack returns to Earth and Torchwood, but early image have Jack being cuffed and escorted by a military strike team

  • Police Constable Gwen Cooper – Eve Myles
  • Rhys Williams – Kai Owens

New Characters

  • Rex Matheson  – Joining the pair full time is Agent Rex Matheson, and agent of the CIA who is “… born to make waves” and possesses a “wicked” sense of humour.
  • Esther Katusi – This reoccurring character is young CIA agent “who learns what she’s really made of only when she’s forced to”.  It has also been released that she is an optimist, a Christian with “a strong faith in mankind”. The character will also fall “head-over-heels in love” with partner Rex.
  • Oswald Jones – This reoccurring character is both a convicted murderer and pedophile.  According to DWM Oswald is “dangerous and clever,” will seem to show remorse about his dark past and find himself in the middle of potentially catastrophic happenings.
  • Dr. Vera Juaraz – This fourth regular character will be introduced in the new run.  Little has been released or is known about this new character, simply she will become caught up in Jack, Gwen’s and the rest of the Torchwood team’s mission, but for good or ill has yet to be seen.
